SANTIAGO DE CHILE – The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release next Wednesday, November 19, its annual report entitled International Trade Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2025: International trade in a new era of weaponized interdependence.

In addition to examining the evolution of foreign trade in the region’s economies during the first half of this year and to presenting its full-year projections for the export and import of goods and services, ECLAC in this report will provide a special analysis of the effects that the United States’ new tariff policy has had on Latin American and Caribbean countries.

In three chapters, the document addresses the recent trade situation and its prospects at a global and regional level; it analyses the position of Latin America and the Caribbean vis-à-vis the new US trade policy; and it examines the intensity of technology and advanced human capital in the region’s goods-and-services exports. According to the report, global and regional trade will remain dynamic in 2025, but prospects worsen in 2026.

The launch of this flagship report, which is prepared each year by ECLAC’s Division of International Trade and Integration, will take place in a hybrid (in-person and virtual) press conference at the organization’s central headquarters in Santiago, Chile at 11:00 a.m. local time (UTC/GMT -3:00). The press conference will be led by the Commission’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.

The press conference will also be transmitted live via Webex at the following link.

An electronic version of the Executive Summary of this new annual report by ECLAC, along with a press release and the Executive Secretary’s PDF presentation with its main conclusions, will be made available on ECLAC’s website on Wednesday, November 19, as soon as the press conference has concluded.
