- At the launch of the SLP Manifesto, November 25, 2025, The Sab, Castries, St Lucia
By Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre
Good evening, my fellow Saint Lucians. [Tonight], you have heard from a team of men and women who carry the heartbeat of this country. You have heard their passion. You have heard their vision.
You have heard their commitment. And most importantly, you have heard your own stories, reflected in every word they spoke. Because this manifesto, this direction, this roadmap, this declaration, was not written in an office.
It was written in the lives of our people. In your homes. In your communities. In your struggles. In your hopes. In your desire for fairness, opportunity, and respect.
Tonight, we close this launch with one simple truth: This manifesto belongs to you. This future belongs to you. And this movement belongs to you.
A Manifesto built from the people, for the people
Danny Butcher reminded us that this manifesto was born from the voices of ordinary Saint Lucians … voices that wanted clarity, unity, purpose, and direction.
Wayne Girard showed us that the economy is not an abstract concept; it is a lifeline for families, for businesses, for workers, for youth seeking opportunity. He reminded us that stability is not a political talking point — it is a requirement for progress.
Lisa Jawahir brought the voice of our families, our mothers, our young people, our seniors. She spoke of dignity, equity, and the quiet sacrifices people make every day. She reminded us that national development must reach every doorstep.
And Ernest Hilaire spoke of identity, culture, and the power of believing in ourselves. He reminded us that a country cannot rise without knowing who it is.
My friends, what you heard tonight was not a collection of speeches. It was a collective vision. A vision defined not by ego, not by political games, not by empty promises …
But by values. By purpose. By people-first leadership.
We have not just promised change — We have delivered it
When we came into office four years ago, we inherited uncertainty. We inherited mistrust. We inherited debt, abandoned projects, and a public service that had been pushed aside.
But [tonight], we stand proudly before you because – we brought back integrity. We brought back responsibility. We brought back fairness. We brought back stability. We brought back trust in leadership.
We delivered:
St Jude Hospital — completed, equipped, and ready to serve the people of the South
Universal Healthcare groundwork — real progress, not political talk
Youth Economy — thousands of new opportunities for young people
MSME support — giving small businesses the chance to grow
Police modernisation — new headquarters, new equipment, renewed safety
Education upgrades — smart classrooms, teacher support, better facilities
Tourism diversification — more rooms, more investment, more local benefit
Agricultural revival — support for farmers, fisherfolk, agro-processors
Improved investor confidence — leadership the world can trust
We did not waste time. We did not play games. We did not serve friends or foreigners. We served Saint Lucians.
A future built on stability — not chaos
This election is not simply about choosing a government. It is about choosing a direction.
A direction that says:
We put people first; We govern with integrity. We care about the vulnerable; We invest in young people. We defend our identity; We protect our nation; We build steadily, responsibly, and sustainably.
Or a direction that returns us to:
Recklessness; Favouritism; Mismanagement; Conflict; Uncertainty; Broken promises; Abandoned projects; Leadership is not a performance. Leadership is responsibility.
My friends — we have proven, again and again, that responsible leadership is what moves a country forward.
The SLP way — Putting People First
This manifesto is guided by one principle: Putting People First — The Labour Way.
That means:
- Policies rooted in fairness; Decisions based on evidence;
- Budgets built on responsibility; Programmes that uplift the many, not the few; We do not govern for applause;
- We govern for impact. We do not lead for popularity. We lead for progress. We do not build for today alone. We build for the next generation.
That is the Labour way. That is our way. That is the right way.
2035 — A vision worth fighting for
By 2035, Saint Lucia will be digitally advanced; environmentally resilient; socially just; economically strong; culturally confident; globally connected.
A Saint Lucia where:
Every child has access to modern education; Every family feels secure; Every community sees opportunity; Every young person finds their path; Every worker is respected; Every elderly citizen lives with dignity; Every sector is strengthened; Every Saint Lucian has a fair chance.
We are not dreaming. We are planning. We are building. We are delivering. And we are moving forward together.
Tonight, we make a choice — Progress or backwardness
My friends, this is a moment of decision. A moment that will define the next generation. Ask yourself:
- Who can you trust to lead Saint Lucia responsibly?
- Who has delivered when it mattered?
- Who has kept their promises?
- Who has governed with humility, honesty, and purpose?
Not those who divided our nation. Not those who built for a few and forgot the many. Not those who abandoned projects and hid the truth. Not those who mismanaged, mistreated, and misled.
No!
The choice is clear. Progress is SLP. Stability is SLP. Fairness is SLP. The future is SLP.
The call to action — Your vote is your power
I say to you: Do not stay home. Do not take this moment lightly. Do not leave your future up to chance.
On election day:
Vote for stability. Vote for fairness. Vote for dignity.
Vote for opportunity. Vote for trust. Vote for responsible leadership. Vote for continued progress. Vote for a better future for your children.
And most importantly — Vote Labour. Vote SLP. Vote for a government that puts people first.
Conclusion — Let us move forward, together!
My fellow Saint Lucians … We have come too far to turn back now. We have built too much to let it be undone. We have shown what is possible when a nation believes in itself. And we are only just beginning.
Let us go forward with purpose. Let us go forward with unity. Let us go forward with courage. Let us go forward with love for country.
Let us go forward — together.
May God bless you. May God bless Saint Lucia. And may we continue to move forward — Putting People First, the Labour Way.
